I wanted to be her hero, but I had to be her villain
Who is looking for an age-gap, mafia romance? How about if it has a motorcycle club tie in? Look no further than Throne of Obsession by Emily Bowie! This is the third, and final, book in the Mafia Thrones series.
If you've read Throne of Diamonds or Throne of Sin, then you know the Mancini family. They definitely intrigue me, and I find myself getting immersed into their stories. Throne of Obsession is Max Mancini's story. That's right, the butcher is about to get his happily ever after.
Sienna Levine is the daughter of an MC president. She's also been forced to marry the second in command, and she's not happy about it. Max Mancini is at the club to deal with an issue, and it is then that he spots Sienna. He's immediately taken with her, and has this need to protect her. This book is a suspenseful, forbidden, stalker, mafia age gap romance that definitely has it's steamy moments. Throne of Obsession is also a quick, easy read. I was drawn into the story almost immediately. Yes that happens with every book of Emily's that I read, and that's why I keep coming back for more.
I absolutely loved the suspense in this story. It just added that bit extra, and fits with the mafia category. Mafia = Suspense for me. Then there's Max, and that man pulled me into his orbit. Yes he wanted to protect Sienna, but he was also supposed to take her out. You know, eliminate the problem so to speak. That little tidbit just added a little extra to the story, and made it stand out from other mafia romances that I've read.
There is so much that I want to talk about when it comes to Throne of Obsession, but at the same time I don't want to share because of spoilers. I tend to share a bit too much at times, so I better stop now. I will say that Sienna's dad is the worst, and that club isn't one of the good ones. By the way all you really need to know is that the action/suspense is fantastic, and the characters are wonderful. I adore the stories that Emily Bowie has brought to fictional life.
You might be wondering what I rated this book, and I have no problems telling you. I have rated Throne of Obsession 4.5 stars. I will also tell you that I am bummed this is the last book in the Mafia Thrones series. Thankfully Emily has said there is another series coming in 2024, and there WILL BE cameos from previous characters. I love when cameos happen. It's just that little something for those who have read previous books by the author.
Have you read any books by Emily Bowie? Are you a mafia romance fan? How about a fan of romantic suspense? Emily also has some small town romances too! I've only read the mafia romances, but I have loved them all. So if you're looking for something new, consider picking up one of her books. Yes they are series, but they can be read as standalones.
Hope you have a wonderful reading week!
~Laura
